SUMMARY
RACE has provided ongoing waterfront engineering services to Steelpointe Harbor developers as they revitalize Bridgeport Harbor into an active, 52-acre mixed use waterfront development.
RACE initially provided hydrographic surveys, FEMA flood zone analysis and mapping, wetland restoration, and shoreline stabilization solutions. Subsequently, RACE prepared geotechnical analyses and structural engineering design for the site’s new 1570 LF bulkhead and marina. The project included permitting and construction administration services. For the shoreline stabilization and bulkhead’s innovative design, RACE was recognized nationally with a 2017 Engineering Excellence Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) for this project.
In 2021, RACE completed Steelpointe Harbor shipyard’s new 700-ton Travel Lift well, which included designing, permitting and construction administration of the new pier supported infrastructure. The 700-ton lift enables hauling some of the largest vessels in New England, including barges, ferry boats, tugboats, and megayachts. The Connecticut Society of Civil Engineers (CSCE) presented RACE with the 2022 Achievement in Civil Engineering Award - Coastal Structural Engineering
