CT Port Authority Announces New Round of
SHIPP Grant Applications
Open September 1, 2026

With Small Harbor Improvement Projects Program Funding, the City of Norwich improved it's docking facilities and ADA-accessibility along the waterfront.
The purpose of the Small Harbor Improvement Projects Program (SHIPP) program is to strengthen Connecticut’s maritime economy by improving safe access to the State’s harbors and by offsetting incremental costs associated with related regulatory requirements. Applications are open to municipalities and private entities.
The Connecticut Port Authority has announced that applications for the next round of SHIPP funding will open September 1, 2026. Per their announcement:
-
Prospective applicants are strongly encouraged to begin planning now. Early preparation is key to developing a competitive application, particularly for projects that require coordination, cost estimating, or permitting.
-
SHIPP Round 6 will use the same policies and procedures as SHIPP Round 5 earlier this year. Both municipalities and private entities may apply for funds, with priority given to municipal applications. Project proposals that are ready to proceed within three months will also receive priority consideration. Round 6 applications will close on September 30, 2026.
