Hailey Brukman, WEDG, CFM Earns Professional Floodplain Management Certification

Hailey Brukman, RACE Project Engineer and Coastal Resiliency Specialist, has earned Certified Floodplain Manager Certification (CFM).

CFM certification is a national program overseen by the Association of State Floodplain Managers (ASFPM). CFM’s serve as local advisors who promote safe floodplain development, assist communities with the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) requirements, reduce community liability through mitigation, and aid in understanding of FEMA Flood Insurance Rate Maps.

With a Master’s degree in Oceanography, WEDG accreditation in sustainable waterfront development practices, proficiency in storm and sea level rise coastal modeling, and advanced flood zone training, Hailey is an expert in designing nature-based solutions to counter flood and erosion from storms and rising sea levels.

“I enjoy being around the water both professionally and recreationally and I am always looking at waterfront areas with an eye geared toward resilience,” commented Hailey. “Through studying and obtaining my CFM credentials, I have greatly increased my knowledge of the NFIP and am excited to use my teachings to help others safely develop and mitigate their flooding risk in challenging areas.”

Congratulations Hailey!
