John joined RACE as an Engineering Technician in October 2016. John is part of the RACE hydrographic survey crew which maps bottom contours out in the field and processes the survey data for creation of base maps in the office. John is proficient in the use of RTK GPS equipment and has gained further experience in areas of regulatory permitting, drafting, site investigations, sediment sampling, test boring observations, and construction oversight. John also develops Opinion of Probable Costs (OPCs) for construction work and repairs of facilities from storm damage. John calculates dredge volumes by means of specialty software such as Carlson and ArcGIS in conjunction with AutoCAD.

John has been around the waters of Long Island Sound for most of his life. Formerly a lifeguard in Westport, CT, John also holds a CT Safe Boater Certificate and enjoys going on family boat trips to Port Jefferson, Montauk and Block Island.
