FAA Small Unmanned Aircraft System Remote Pilot License

Jim Donegan joined RACE in 2005 and is currently responsible for planning and conducting RACE’s field operations and hydrographic surveys.  He is a licensed USCG 100 Ton Master and HYPACK Certified Hydrographer who operates RACE’s survey vessels including our 23’ Steiger Craft Chesapeake and various other shallow water inflatables.  He is proficient in using a Teledyne Odom Echotrac CV100 Dual Frequency Echo Sounder to perform hydrographic surveys.  Additionally, he is proficient with Real Time Kinematic (RTK) Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) and Differential Global Positioning Systems (DGPS) for use in both vertical and horizontal positioning.

 

Jim’s background, both professionally and personally, has always centered around the water.  Growing up on the Connecticut shoreline, Jim developed a passion for sailing and sailboat racing.  Over the years Jim has competed in numerous local, regional, and international sailing events on the East Coast of the United States, Canada, Bermuda and beyond.  Additionally, Jim serves on the Board of Governors of the Housatonic Boat Club and as Cubmaster for his son’s Cub Scout Pack.  When not in the office Jim enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons.  The family can often be found sailing the waters of Long Island Sound during the summer and skiing the slopes of Vermont during the winter.
